General Shipping Details

All shipping is handled by Australia Post and shipped via Receipted Delivery (or Registered) Parcel Post or Express Parcel Post. (The option to choose either service is available while processing your shopping basket after delivery address confirmation.)

All items will be delivered according to Australia Post's delivery practices and conditions, including no after hours or weekend deliveries. We recommend you use the link provided to Australia Post to review customer loss and liability.

• Without exception, goods will not be shipped without payment in full.
• We use “Flat Rate” charges for shipping all our items. Please see our “Shipping Charges” below.
• Once payment is received all orders are processed and shipped within 24-48 hours. (Excluding weekends and public holidays)
• All items purchased from Bongo's Basement are shipped; there is no pickup facility available.

We have shipped a considerable number of items via Australia Post and have found them to provide an excellent service considering the extreme distances and remote locations some of our items have been shipped to.


International Shipping
We only sell and ship to customers within Australia and New Zealand. (We have no other facility for international shipping) Parcels to New Zealand as posted via Australia Post using Express Post International. (Please note postage charge is calculated automatically via hte shopping basket software.)

Delivery Times

The table below indicates “expected” delivery times according to Australia Post’s Parcel Post delivery service. This is a good guide for determining the times to receive your order but please note;

Currently we are processing 98% of all orders by the next business day. So stated delivery times "start" the day after payment is received or ...your payment clears Monday, we ship it out Tuesday and you get it by Thursday in Melbourne (2 Business Days).

Shipping Charges

Flat Rate Shipping

With our range expanding we are now stocking a larger variety of items and some of them can be shipped at a lower price than our low flat price of $8.90. Some of these items include smaller diecast models and some plastic model kits that weight less than a 500g when packed and they will have a "Single Postage Item" price logo on the items web page and the price to ship that "single item" in the post. If you order more that just that one item the postage cost will increase to a pricing listed below.

The price charges for items breaks down like this....

• For items/orders with a packed weight of less that 250g the postage charge is $4.90 for all of Australia.
• For items/orders with a packed weight of between 251g and 500g the postage charge is $6.90 for all of Australia.
• For items/orders with a packed weight over 500g the postage charge is still only $8.90 for most of Australia with a "Flat Rate Surcharge" to some distant areas. (See Flat Rate Surcharge info listed below and refer to the table to see if you fall in this area.)

Please note that all these postage charges will be done automatically by the shopping cart system but if you have any questions or come across any problems please let us know.

Flat Rate Surcharge

For some regional areas in Australia we unfortunately need to charge a surcharge to cover some of the excessive shipping cost. The total charge is still a flat rate so if you purchase one model or a carton or any combination of items and the total postage cost is still the same. The current postage surcharge is $7.00.

The surcharge is required for the following areas and postcodes;

Please note if the delivery address of your order is in the areas outlined above your order will not be shipped till the surcharge is paid.

Express Postage Details

The items for purchase below are our limited Express Post service using Australia Post “Jumbo Express Post” satchels. Your items/s will be carefully packed (as always) and posted via a Jumbo Express Post satchel. These satchels only fit 1x 1:18 scale diecast model or up to 2x 1:24 scale diecast models. (Note:- 1x 1:18 scale + 1x 1:24 scale diecast models will not fit in a single satchel)

There are two options/items to purchase for an Express Post service; “Express Post Upgrade” and “Added Express Post Item”.

Express Post Upgrade

The “Express Post Upgrade” upgrades our regular Parcel Post service to Express Post (via a Jumbo Express Post satchel). Satchels only fit  1x 1:18 scale diecast model or up to 2x 1:24 scale diecast models per upgrade. Your total shipping cost will be the standard shipping cost as calculated via the shopping cart + the Express Post Upgrade cost.

Added Express Post Item

If your order has more items than 1x 1:18 scale diecast model or more than 2x 1:24 scale diecast models and you want them all shipped Express Post you need to purchase an “Added Express Post Item” as well as the “Express Post Upgrade”. For example if you have 2x 1:18 scale models and want them both shipped Express Post you need to purchase 1x Express Post Upgrade + 1x Added Express Post Item. So your total shipping cost will be the standard shipping cost as calculated via the shopping cart + the Express Post Upgrade cost + Added Express Post Item cost.

Apart from this we DON’T have any other Express Post service. All other packages are sent via Australia Post “Parcel Post” service. Please note that this may seem complicated and expensive to some customers but it is the Fastest Service (both getting your order out and postage times) and Cheapest Service we could work out.
